Story Overview (Spoilers)

As Lizel and Gil continue their peaceful life as adventurers, an unexpected rumor spreads through the guild—Gil, known as “One Slash,” has officially joined a party. The news sends shockwaves through the adventurer community. Those who know Gil best flat-out refuse to believe it. Others who are familiar with both Gil and Lizel are skeptical but open to the idea. Meanwhile, those closest to them—such as the tavern master, appraiser Judge, and guild receptionist Studd—simply tilt their heads and ask, “Wait, weren’t they already a party?”

Later, Studd notices a strange bruise on Lizel’s arm. When asked about it, Lizel casually jokes, “Gil begged me not to leave.” Gil, visibly annoyed, denies it—but the way he awkwardly looks away makes it clear who the culprit is.

Meanwhile, Viscount Ray becomes increasingly fascinated by Lizel. Deeply impressed by his sense of aesthetics and noble bearing, Ray expresses a strong desire to establish a personal connection. He also finds it puzzling that Gil—famously aloof and unwilling to accept any escort jobs, including Ray’s own—would willingly accompany Lizel. But Ray’s appraising eye tells him one thing: Lizel isn’t some fallen noble with a dark past. Sensing that Lizel is someone far from ordinary, Ray writes a brief letter to Marquis Shadow, the ruler of a nearby trade nation. It contains just one line: “Do not make an enemy of him.”

Lizel later visits Judge, the appraiser who remains amazed by Lizel’s elegance and gentle demeanor. He was initially skeptical that someone so refined could be a real adventurer, but now finds himself genuinely fond of Lizel—to the point of overlooking the quiet danger that lurks behind his kindness. Judge even worries about the shabby inn Lizel stays at. Lizel, with a smile, predicts that Judge will soon come to him with a personal escort request.

Back at the guild, Lizel has a warm exchange with Studd, who reveals a shared love of reading. Though guild books aren’t allowed off the premises, Studd discreetly gives Lizel a handwritten note listing several specialty bookstores nearby. Lizel fondly refers to him as a “cute younger one” and gives him a gentle pat on the head. Caught completely off guard, Studd freezes—unsure how to react to the unexpected affection. When Studd later comments that Lizel’s bruise has vanished, Lizel simply replies, “Gil wasn’t serious,” and brushes it off.

During this exchange, Gil casually lets slip that Studd is an ice magic user. Lizel is intrigued to hear that Studd once accidentally froze a coworker, and offers a helpful suggestion: try warming them gradually next time. It’s also revealed here that both Studd and Judge are around twenty years old, while Lizel and Gil are in their late twenties. Interestingly, Judge is the type who gets flustered when pampered, while Studd is the type who unabashedly leans into it.

Review
Chapters 6 to 10 strike a balance between comedy, quiet character moments, and subtle worldbuilding. Lizel continues to be an intriguing protagonist—his aristocratic quirks and gentle personality contrast delightfully with the rough-and-tumble world of adventurers. Gil, meanwhile, plays the perfect straight man to Lizel’s elegant absurdity.
